Smoke stars William Hurt. He has been in I Love You to Death, Accident Tourist, The Big Chill, Children of a Lesser God among others. Harvey Keitel has been in Clockers, The Last Temptation of Christ, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs among others. Forest Whitaker has been in The Last King of Scotland, the TV show as host of The Twilight Zone, Panic Room, The Color of Money among others. Ashley Judd has been in an episode of Star Trek TNG, Frieda, The Devine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Double Jeopardy, Kiss the Girls among others. Stockard Channing has been in Greese, The West Wing (TV), Through Dead Eyes among others.
The plot revolves around a cigar store owner Keitel and a customer, who is a writer, Hurt. Keitel gets a visit from his ex wife, Channing, about a daughter he never knew he had, Judd. Hurt befriends a young man on the lamb from a drug dealer. The young man finds his estranged father Whitaker. An interisting part of the movie is Keitels character taking a photo a day for years and years at the corner of his cigar store.
I rated the movie as a B. The characters are interisting and I was interisted in what happens to them. All of the characters have there ups and downs that I found good enough for me to recomend the movie. Worth the time to watch.
