The movie stars Toni Collette (The Sixth Sence, Little Miss Sunshine), Philip Seymour Hoffman (Charlie Wilson's War, Boogie Nights), and Eric Bana (Munich, Black Hawk Down).
The movie is about pen pals Mary, a child in Australia, and Max, a middle aged New Yorker with Aspergers. Its claymation, if you know Wallace and Gromit you know what Im talking about. The movie is based on a true story. I would think the letters are the source material. It takes place over a few years.
Usually movies based on true events and espically those spread over many years I dont like. I like this movie. Usually movies that has prominate songs used in other things I dont like. For this movie it works. It does a pretty good job of giving some good info on Aspergers. The movie stared real well and draged for me a little in the middle. The movie may be a little dark for some people but at least it seems to deal with real issues. I rated the movie as an A. I would think the claymation would get in the way but it worked.
