Thor (2011 PG 13)

The movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman (Brothers, Cold Mountain), Stellan Skarsgard (Good Will Hunting, The Hunt for Red October), Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs, Howard's End), Kat Dennings (The Answer Man), Clark Gregg (Ther New Adventures of OldChristrine, The Air I Breathe), and Rene Russo (Outbreak, Tin Cup).
The plot is after launching an attack on enemies Hemsworth power is taken away by his dad, Hopkins, and forced to live on Earth.  He is befriended by Portman and her coworkers.
The movie start off with Portman comming across as a type of scientist played by Jodi Foster in Contact, sort of an out of the box thinker.  Maybe the first half or two thirds of the movie there are a lot of funny one liners. One I remember is the guy from SHIELD (actor Clark Gregg), asks if a robot was something from Tony Stark (for those of you who have a life thats the name of Iron Mans alterego).  its not as funny, or as good as Iron Man or Hancock but still funny.
The Worm hole generator reminds  me of Stargate a little bit or maybe to a lesser degree Contact.  The computer generated settings were nice but a little to far for me it.  I have nothing to compare it to other the Hubble telescope images and some of those dont look real.  Plus I dont think the computer generated horses at the start dont look that real to me.
Im rating the movie as a C+.It is not as good as the other super hero movies. Its worth going to seebut not a home run.  Its harder for me to do the suspension of disbelef. Its "easier" to belive Tony Stark build a suit then to beleive in the Gods for me.  They are not human so less familure to me.  Batman is a flawed man with the money to build really neat toys.  I think people can relate to how feelng resonible for the death of ones parents can mess up someones mind.
There are a few super hero movies  where the directors suprise me. Jon Favreau for both Iron Man, Peter Berg for Hancock.  And Kenneth Branagh for this one.  Also I was suprised that J. Michael Straczynski (creator of Babalon 5 from TV) who was listed under the stroy line on the credits.
And speaking of credits as a general rule, and this one in particular, when you go to movie based on comic books watch the credits all the way to the end.  There is usually a scene after the credits have ended.
