Then She Found Me (2007 R)

The movie stars Helen Hunt (Mad About You tv, As Good As it Gets), Colin Firth (The King's Speach, Dorian Gray), Bette Midler (For the Boys, Beaches), Matthew Broderick (Ferris Buelers Day Off, War Games), and Lynn Cohen (The Jimmy Show, Manhatten Murder Mystery).
The plot of the movie is Hunt is going through a mid life crisis.  Her husband leaves her, she reconnects with her birth mother who gave her up for adaption, the death of her adaptive mother, dating the father of one of her students, and trying to get pregnate.
Im rating the movie as a C- so it is a mild pass but a pass not the less.  Hunts character gets in trouble for her husband quitting.  I fail to see why people who are suspose to be grown ups would blame Hunts character for being a shit and not a grown up and quitting.  The pacing of the movie in the first half to two thids is too jumpy.  It just is from one thing to another and is distracting.
Midlers character, a talk show host, is bad.  She is self centered and a  meglamanic.  I think the character gets a little better towards the end of the movie.  The best thing about the movie is Firths charactrer.  His character is flawed but on the whole he knows it.  He knows what he has to do to deal with being a single dad and does not care about apearances.  He is the most in tuen character in the movie.  Broderick character is just a child.  He wears a baseball hat to an ob/gyn appoitment and it makes him appear about 10.  I guess thats the point that he is just a child.  he moves in with his mother like a child.  He brings his current girlfriend to another ob appoitment.  it made for a very awkard scene.  But how stupid do you have to be to bring your girlfriend to an ob appoitment with your to be ex wife (and her boyfriend).
The end of the movie is ok.  I wont give up what happens in the end.It leaves a few things up in the air.  You have to decide how it happens on your own there are no clues as to how they got to where they are.
On the whole I say skip it and just watch something else.
