The movie stars Don Ameche (Trading Places, Things Change), Gene Tierney, (Night and the City, Where the Sidewalk Ends), Charles Coburn (Gentlemen Prefer Blonds, Impact), Majorie Main (Meet Me in St. Louis, Boy of the Street), and Larid Cregar (I Wake Up Screaming).
The plot is Ameche pleades his case to get into Hell. Its an interisting concept I have never thought of having to justify yourself to get into Hell.
One problem with the movie is I dont remember how things were in the 40's since I was born in the 60's. It means I dont have the same morals or ethics of the time. I did not see any real emotional debth in the characters. The view of women is also diffrent. Sendking a woman to the library to rest because she sneezed. What he was conessing to was not that bad. There was a line about being barbaric for throwing water in the face of a sick child to make him feel beter. I guess since the envalope is always being pushed there are things that I dont mind that people who are older it bothers them.
Im rating this movie as a D. See the one with Warren Beatty. That is another problem. I went in with expectations of the movie with Warren Beatty. I liked the one with Beatty so it made it harder for this one to get the same reaction.
